We arrived in Munich on Friday afternoon after a 6 hour ride on two trains. One of the trains was the ICE (inter city express). We reached a maximum speed of 250 kph (190 mph).
After checking into the hostel we took the S-bahn to Marienplatz. This is "the heart of Munich". Our students saw the Glöckenspiel in the Neues Rathaus.
The Rathaus is the city hall of Munich.
Near to Marienplatz is the Viktualenmarkt, an open air market where everything from flowers to fresh fruits, vegetables, and seafood are sold. Also near by is Dienerstrasse where you can find the famous Dallmayr chocolates.
The picture which shows a gate, is called the Karls Tor. This is one of the four original gates to the old city.
Other pictures show us having dinner at the world famous Hof Brau Haus.
How would you like one of these Pretzels ???
