Dresden Eislowen Hockey Game

Hi all you sports fans in the U.S.! This is Sojourney Gottshall.
While in Germany, I am living in the city of Dresden with the Wappler family.

Last night (3/3/09) my host dad and host brother took me to Dresden's ice hockey game. It was so much fun. We had VIP tickets entitling us to a meal, drinks, snacks, and special seats.
Although I didn't understand what people were saying I had a good idea of what was going on. My German is still not the best but I am now able to understand people when they talk and understand everyday things I see such as billboards and newspapers.

The game was very good. It was an intense game with the first goal during the second period. With Dresden leading the score 1 to 0 over Landshut Cannibals, the stadium went wild and started to sing one of the many fan songs. Shortly after the goal by Dresden, Landshut had an opportunity to score and they did. At the end of the offical game the score was tied 2 to 2. They went into one 5 minute overtime but no one scored, so the two teams went into a shoot out. Dresden missed both shots while Landshut scored both goals. Although the home team didn't win it was still one of the best hockey games I have ever been to.

Included here is a video of part of the game. In the background you will hear how loud the stadium was and how enthusiastic the fans of Dresden Eislowen ice hockey are.
